It's Caturday!

Welcome back for another edition of Caturday, where we catch up on the week's latest cat news, and get to meet some of your amazing kitties!

This week, we said goodbye to Halifax's first feline mayoral candidate, Tuxedo Stan, Morris the Cat lent a paw to Alaska's ailing cat mayor, Jennifer created kitty cupcakes that reminded us of Colonel Meow, Simon's Cat was back in "Mirror, Mirror," and I hit up New York Fashion Week to attend a show featuring designs inspired by the Fancy Feast cat!

Also, there's still time to enter to win YOUR CHOICE of a vintage "ugly" cat sweater from The Sweater Store! I'm drawing the lucky winner on this coming Tues. 9/17, so don't miss out!

Bagel

This week's featured feline has overcome the odds to become the loving kitty she is today!

Karen writes:

Bagel, who is a rescued kitten, was born with a condition called Coloboma. It's basically an underdeveloped eyelid. On a daily basis she is in pain as her eyelashes grow into her eye and scratch her cornea. Just imagine feeling like you had SAND in your eye and it is scratching it every waking moment! This is how my kitty feels until she can get the costly eye surgery.

Beautiful from the inside out!

A natural born model.

I also put eye drops in her eyes every day since she doesn't have tears. That will have to be done for the rest of her life. However, you would never know how much pain she is in because of her comical personality! It is so hard to explain it unless you've met her in person, because she doesn't act like a cat.

Working that pink harness!

Ravishing in red.

Another thing about Bagel is that with all of her discomfort, she's still an amazing therapy kitty. She lets every child hold her and is especially great with special needs children.
Once, I was at the Promenade in Santa Monica and met a very special girl named Veronica. Bagel went right into her lap and all the way up to where her bib was and curled up. Her father was speechless and teary eyed because she just lit up and kept on smiling. I left Bagel on her lap until her dad was ready to go.

Trying on some new shades at PetSmart.

Angel Bagel in her Halloween costume.

I must say though, that wherever I take her everyone wants to stop and take photos of her. She has been photographed with tourists from around the world holding her, from Japan, China, France, Ireland, Australia, and so on. She will let each and every person hold her without one meow. Oh, that's right she only meows if she is cold, tired, or has to go to the bathroom on long days. Otherwise, she never makes a peep!

Letting it all hang out!

So, despite Bagel having a very rough beginning where she almost died on us, had severe food allergies, worms, and her continuing eye problem, she truly is a remarkable kitty.

Special thanks to Karen for sharing her little Bagel with us this week! You can follow this very special cat on Twitter at @kittybagel.

Karen, thank you so much for sharing Bagel with us! She really is an exceptional kitty! Are you saving up money for Bagel's surgery? Are you considering doing something like GoFundMe if you need help? I would definitely donate money toward her surgery. Just a suggestion. She is such a special kitty.

What an adorable kitty. I love her name. Poor kitty. I never heard of that before. That is wonderful she is so cheerful even though she has that. Hugs and purrs.

Such a cute name for a cute kitty. It saddens me to hear about the pain in her eye. Alissa made a great comment of possibly setting up a GoFundMe to raise money for Bagel's surgery.
