Grumpy Cat Visits Good Morning America, Meets Anderson Cooper & More!

When Andy Met Grumpy

Start spreading the mews! Fresh off her recent headline making appearance at SXSW, Grumpy Cat embarked on the second half of her Friskies "Will Kitty Play With It?" publicity tour on Friday, making several high profile media stops in New York City.

Tardar Sauce, who was accompanied by owners Tabatha and Bryan Bundesen, started the day off at Good Morning America (she was on The Today Show back in December), where she posed for pics and delighted anchors, before heading over to appearances on VH1's Big Morning Buzz and Anderson Live.

Anderson and guest co-host Judge Marilyn Milian unsuccessfully tried to cheer up the sourpuss with cupcakes, booze, and Beyonce tickets, before offering her parting gifts of happy pills, and a "Grumpiest Guest" necklace for the road.

Other grumpy stops on the tour included a quick interview at E! News, where Tabatha gave the inside scoop on Tard's brush with "The Vampire Diaries" star Ian Somerhalder.

The 11-month-old cat was also welcomed at TIME magazine (cuz internet memes are totally legit now, yo), where she cuddled up to editors, and posed with some animal-themed covers of yore.

Stacy London Schools Anderson Cooper On Cat Sweaters

Stacy London (TLC's "What Not to Wear," author of "The Truth About Style") co-hosted Anderson Cooper's daytime talk show last week, and took the opportunity to school the Silver Fox on cat fashion.

During the segment, London presented Coops with an Opening Ceremony cat sweater, before proudly pulling on her own feline-inspired Markus Lupfer top. Anderson, who seemed quite sure he was being punked, repeatedly questioned the style guru on the legitimacy of the fashion choice ("Are cat sweaters a thing?"), to which she assured the anchor that they are "super chic," "crazy cool," and that she's "bringing sexy back to cat." Meow! (You can watch the full clip here. The cat sweater segment kicks in around the 9:00 minute mark).

London's Lupfer sweater is sold out across sites like Net-A-Porter and ASOS, but UK-based Austique still has some in stock. Cooper's embroidered sweater, inspired by a cat named Basil, is available in various colors and in men's and women's sizes from Opening Ceremony.

Meanwhile, the "Anderson Live" website is currently running a poll asking if the kitty sweater is a good look for the newsman. Unsurprisingly, 74.2% of respondents agree that he "looks good in black," while 25.8% (wrongly) believe he's "more of a dog sweater person."

Anderson Cooper and Kristen Johnston Meet Meow, The 39 lb. Cat

Anderson Cooper, who has quickly become the go-to source for celebrity cat sit-downs (he's also featured Willow the Colorado kitty who turned up in NYC, and a Persian with a penchant for the pool), had a very special guest on his daytime talk show today: Meow, the now infamous 39-pound cat (now down to 35.7 lbs), who made headlines last week when he showed up at a Santa Fe animal shelter. The two-year-old cat, whose size has been compared to that of a 600 lb. man, was surrendered after his 87-year-old owner was no longer able to care for him.

“Oh my lord, I don't want to say it loud, but... it's like holding a big tub of Jello,” said Anderson, while attempting to hold the tubby tabby. He quickly apologized as to not hurt the cat's feelings, and also offered up an apologetic smooch as penance.

The kitty is currently being cared for by the Santa Fe Animal Shelter & Humane Society, who have been busily posting updates on his progress (and latest media appearances) on their Facebook page.

I must admit that I was so sad when I first heard about this story, but it's good to see that Meow is in good hands, and on the road to recovery. I'm sure once his weight his under control, there will be a line of people eager to adopt this sweet boy.

Update: Click here to watch another clip of Meow's vet, Dr. Jennifer Stekettee, with some tips on how to help slim down your overweight pet. Plus, Anderson reveals that Wellness Pet Food has generously donated $2,000 to the Santa Fe Animal Shelter to help care for Meow, as well as give $500 worth of healthy pet food to Meow's future owner. Hooray!

Even A.C. can't resist the allure of kitty kisses!

Anderson Cooper Never Met A Swimming Cat He Didn't Like

Today's episode of Anderson Cooper's daytime talk show hosted a decidedly mixed cast characters, ranging from "Dancing with the Stars" cast-off Jack Wagner and his long-lost daughter, to "Extreme Pet Owners" who take pleasure in dying their pups green. The hour long spectacle also featured Henry the lizard lover, Beyonce the world's tiniest puppy, and "Must Love Cats" star John Fulton, who introduced the baffled host to San Francisco-based designer Flora Davis' line of cat hair jewelry, and to a Persian kitty who likes getting his paws wet.

Mary Ellen taught her 8-year-old cat Nymbus how to swim because she was concerned he would fall in her family's large backyard pool, and wanted him to be prepared. Veterinarian and pet care expert Marty Becker was also on hand to give his thoughts on the unusual practice, and concluded that while swimming is not suitable for all pets, it can be a great form of exercise as long as its done under supervision.

While Nybmus doesn't look like he's ready for the Cat-lympics just yet, I'm not throwing any shade his way. For all of the doggy-paddling going on, this cat can still swim better than me.

Check out another clip of Mary Ellen explaining how she taught Nymbus how to swim here.

Willow the Lost Cat Sits Down with Anderson Cooper

Ever since it was reported that a cat from Colorado was mysteriously found 1,800 miles away from her home 5 years after she went missing, the internet has been abuzz with questions over HOW THE HECK DID SHE GET THERE?

Everyone from The New York Times, to Mayor Bloomberg had their own ideas about what happened to Willow, but it turns out that the most likely theory is the one that is (probably) true.

Gothamist exclusively reported this morning that they were tipped of by someone who claimed to have cared for the missing cat for 3 months while her new owner was away for work. The anonymous tipster says that the owner fell in love with that cat after finding her as a stray in Colorado, and brought her back to his Brooklyn home via plane, where she was "loved and very spoiled." Unfortunately, he no longer felt he had the time to care for her, and dropped her off at Animal Care and Control last week, where the microchip scan revealed her origins, and ignited a media firestorm.

Anderson spoke with the Squires family via satellite

Another name making cat news this week, Anderson Cooper, also plays a part in this story, as he was the first to "virtually" reunite Willow with the Squires family for an upcoming "Petstravaganza" themed episode of his show (Note to Anderson producers: I want to be in the audience for your next pet show!). In the preview clip above, Anderson tenderly holds Willow (who knew he was such a cat lover?) while chatting with the Squires family and their young daughter, who at three-years-old, is too young to have ever met her in person.

Other interesting details have also emerged since the story broke earlier this week, including that the Squires' other cat passed away three months ago, and that they were vacationing in New York City just six months ago, perhaps just miles away from their long lost cat.

Update: Another cute video of Willow visiting NBC News New York!

Casting Alert! Anderson Cooper Seeks Pet Look-a-likes For New Show

Does Your Pet Look Like Anderson?

Anderson Cooper's new daily talk show premiered today with an exclusive interview with Amy Winehouse's friends and family, but putting aside the debut episode's serious subject matter, it looks like he plans to show a softer side with the show, too.

Despite lambasting his feline doppelganger (above) on The Ridiculist last month, the talker has issued a call to viewers to send in pictures of their own pets who also look like him, for the chance to be a guest on an upcoming episode. All of the details on how to submit are here.

Cooper also has a gallery on his website dedicated to pets named after him that includes adorable cats, kittens (and some dogs and birds, too). Click here to view the photos, or tweet your own pics in @Anderson, including the hashtag #AndersonPets.

Tell me: Does your cat look like a celebrity, or were they named after one?
