Steven Spielberg Visits SNL And Revisits Classic Movie Moments For "Laser Cats 7"

This weekend, Steven Spielberg took on his most challenging directorial role to date as he stopped by "Saturday Night Live" to enthusiastically help Andy Samberg and Bill Hader pitch the latest installment of the "Laser Cats" series to Lorne Michaels.

In the clip, Samberg must save an E.T. doll named E.A.T. (Extra Awesome Terrestrial) from the villainous Space Nazi and Horn Head who want the plush captured because of its ability to turn the laser cats back into real kitties. Will their evil plan prevail, or will the gratuitous use of Spielberg movie plot points help save the day? Check out the digital short above to find out!

When a gif surfaced yesterday on BuzzFeed of two cats playing ping pong, it inspired me to seek out the original video of Toonces the Cat embroiled in an intense match against a ginger tabby named Spunky. Toonces was the star of a series of Saturday Night Live sketches from the early 90s, revolving mostly around the fact that he drove a car, albeit not very well.

SNL has a history of funny (and strange) cat clips, but in my opinion, some of the best are their commercial parodies for products such as Feline Culinary Creations, a rip on upscale cat food brands like Fancy Feast, and Litter Critters, a fictional kit that turns Fluffy's litter box leftovers into toys for your kids.

Andy Samberg Gets Whiskered for Wired Magazine

SNL star Andy Samberg appears on the May 2011 cover of Wired magazine, complete with cat whiskers, and a serious looking silver kitty perched on his shoulder! Inside the mag, the "Laser Cats" comedian is also seen posed in bed, wearing hot pink pajamas and covered in kittens.
