Ke$ha Adopts A Little "White Lion" Named Mr. Fluffy Pants

Ke$ha and Mr. Fluffy Pants

Everyone knows that Ke$ha loves her animals, so it comes as no surprise that the singer recently added another furry member to her feline brood. "Someone just got rescued..." the pop star tweeted over the weekend, before sharing pictures of a large, fluffy white cat she later named Mr. Fluffy Pants.

"New kitty was in a tiny cage for 8 months ....I couldn't just leave him!! Now he has his own bedroom... just need a name ..." she wrote

Fluffy, whose appearance she likened to a "white lion," spent the first few hours in his new home hiding under the bed, and getting to know Ke$ha's other famous feline, Mr. Peep$. Their first encounter was caught on tape -- and yes, he did eventually come out!

He finally came out!

This isn't the first time that the cat loving singer has opened her home to an animal in need. Last year she took in Mr. Peep$, a Siamese kitty, after he was handed to her through a car window. The pampered puss now has his own Twitter account, and also makes frequent appearances on the songstresses own feed.

Belt Line Cat Piper Trades In His Pipe For A Forever Home

Piper

Back in March we met Piper, a saucy black cat who made his home inside a drainage pipe located on Atlanta Belt Line's East Side Trail. The kitty gained national attention after someone installed a tiny mailbox outside of his humble abode, where adoring fans of all ages left letters, food, catnip, and bedding for the friendly feline, who also kept in touch via Facebook and Twitter.

Things changed earlier this month though, when the social media savvy feline announced that he was looking to sell his pipe, citing construction noise, property taxes, and no A/C as factors in making the difficult decision:

Fortunately, a local developer quickly caught wind of the situation, and made the entrepreneurial feline an offer he (almost) couldn't refuse:

After initially turning down what he perceived to be a low bid (he thought ONE MILLION DOLLARS was more befitting of a celebrity cat's home), he finally conceded to $10k plus some gourmet cat food to seal the deal. The only problem was, where was Piper going to live now?

He sent out a tweet looking for an affordable rental near the Belt Line, and immediately got an amazing lead:

A deal was quickly struck, and on Friday he packed his boxes and headed for his forever home:

Piper promises to keep in touch with fans while settling into his new space. On Saturday he posted this pic on Facebook with the caption, "Took a nap in the landlord's lap earlier. Now I'm checking out the view from the kitchen. Tomatoes!"

Congrats on your new life Piper! We love you!

Gilles Marini Has A Kitten Named Penelope, And She Is Precious

Gilles & Penelope

French American actor Gilles Marini, perhaps best known for his head turning role in the first Sex and the City movie and for his second place win on Season 8 of Dancing with the Stars, recently welcomed a new leading lady into his life, and he isn't afraid to share their love with the world.

Back in May, the actor and his wife surprised their daughter, Juliana, with a fluffy white kitten named Penelope (not to be confused with Kourtney Kardashian's infant daughter of the same name), to help teach her the responsibility, love, and dedication that come along with being a parent.

Since then, the precocious Persian has quickly become a treasured member of the Marini clan, frequently popping up in pictures posted on Gilles's various social media accounts.

Here is she is cuddling with his wife, Carole.

Getting friendly with the family fish (who apparently lived to see another day).

Making fast friends with Mila the Frenchie.

Taking glamour shots (his daughter told him that she "fell" into the makeup box...uh huh!)

And trying out for the starring role in the live action version of Puss in Boot(s).

To get the last updates on Penelope as she grows up from kitten to cat, follow Gilles Marini on FacebookTwitter, and Instagram.

Hamilton The Hipster Cat Mustache You A Question

Hamilton the Hipster Cat

Some cats wear tuxedos, while others sport a permanent 'stache. The internet's latest emerging celebrikitty is Hamilton the Hipster Cat, a gorgeous gray maned puss from San Francisco. According to SFGate, the Maine Coon/Norwegian Forest mix had trouble getting adopted from the shelter at first because of his skittish nature, until he found a home with comedian Jay Stowe.

Now, the considerably calmer feline is winning over fans with the most impressive mustache you've ever seen. In addition to spawning memes and possessing popular profiles on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, Ham also has a t-shirt deal in the works with Urban Outfitters, and a manager is on the horizon, too.

As Stowe tells SFGate, "I learned early on that I will never be able to compete with Ham’s mustache. It’s just easier to let him be the debonair one in the house." Gentlemen, throw away your razors, because it doesn't get any better than this.

Incredible Cat Latte Art From Japan

@george_10g

Thanks to an article on NPR, I recently discovered the amazing work of Kazuki Yamamoto (@george_10g), a 26-year-old latte artist from Osaka, Japan. Yamamoto is responsible for creating hundreds of amazing designs (several of them cat related), which he composes using little more than a toothpick, some milk, espresso, and foam.

Luckily for latte enthusiasts who can't make it all the way to Japan, Kazuki, along with friend Kohei Matsuno (@latte_artist_jk), share images of their edible artwork on Twitter, much to the delight of their thousands of eager fans.

Grumpy Cat!

While latte art has grown in popularity in the U.S., design philosopher Leonard Koren theorizes that it's more prevalent in Japan because of the beauty inherent in its ephemeral nature.

He tells NPR: "For example, the Japanese love the cherry blossom metaphor. Because cherry trees blossom for only a week or two every year, when they do blossom, there is the emotional poignancy of knowing that it is only a temporary state of affairs.

If you can memorialize cherry blossoms in poetry—which the Japanese do, why not do the same for latte foam?"

Seth MacFarlane's Cat Reviews His Oscar Hosting Performance

Seth MacFarlane may not have pleased everyone with his controversial job as Oscar host, but at least one critic has stepped up with a positive review: His cat.

The star took to Twitter last night to share his kitty's opinion of the performance, proving that even when the rest of the world is against us, our kitties always have our back.

MacFarlane last made cat headlines in 2011, when he teamed up with Heaven on Earth Society for Animals in Van Nuys, CA, to help raise money for a cage-free sanctuary and adoption center for homeless cats. The project was in memory of his late mother, Ann Perry MacFarlane, who was a devoted animal advocate and rescuer.

The 21 Best Tweets About Cats Watching The Oscars

Last night's Academy Awards ceremony was filled with highs and lows, from rousing musical performances by J. Hud and Adele, to Katniss Everdeen adorably falling up the stairs to accept her award.

The  true unsung heroes of the night, however, were the brave felines who attempted to stay awake during the hours-long telecast, with some achieving better results than others.

Twitter Adds LOLcat Language Option, Because Cats Use The Internet Too

Many already consider LOLspeak to be the official language of the internet, and Twitter just added muscle to that claim by introducing the feline dialect to their list of supported languages. In an announcement made earlier this afternoon via kitten, the social network revealed that users can now update to LOLCATZ language through their settings page, to view the site from a cat's perspective.

Yes, it's true!

So what does it all mean? The Home icon becomes "Hum" and Discover changes to "Discovr", while more obvious modifications include "VIEW MAH PROFILE PUJ", "EXPAN. KTHX.", and "Direct Messujs KTHXBYE!".

The language update is still in beta, and may be subtle -- but comes as a relief to millions of cats in the Twittersphere, who no longer have to waste time figuring out "hoo 2 follow" and where to check their "interacshuns" before compozin a new tweet.

Kat Von D And Deadmau5 Bond Over Their Shared Love Of Cats

New cat couple alert? Electro-house music star Deadmau5 and celebrity tattoo artist Kat Von D are both noted cat lovers, who regularly share gratuitous kitty pix through their respective social media accounts. Now it appears that the creative duo have sparked a relationship over their shared passion for music, ink, and felines, which they took public yesterday, when Deadmau5 posted a huge "a day with the kats :D" photo album on Facebook, featuring the inked glamazon cuddling with his two beloved felines, Professor Meowingtons pHd and Miss Nyancat.

Von D is a hairless cat enthusiast with a Sphynx named Piaf, who came into her life after the untimely loss of her previous cats, Ludwig and Valentine. Deadmau5's kitties, Meowingtons and Miss Nyancat, both have their own Twitter accounts, and Meowingtons also recently teamed up with Sol Republic to create the world's first pair of tiny headphones for cats.

While Kat is staying relatively mum about the affair, Deadmau5 has already tweeted that he's in love with the former reality star. It's unclear if a Kat and Mau5 can ever overcome their differences, but for the sake of the kitties involved, let's hope that these two crazy cat lovers can work things out.

The 25 Best Tweets From The First Ever Internet Cat Video Film Festival

Last night, Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota hosted the world's first ever Internet Cat Video Film Festival, which was by all accounts, a "meowmentus" occasion. The event was created by Walker Open Field's "unofficial cat-lady-in-residence" Katie Czarniecki Hill, to see what happened when people stopped being polite, and started watching cat videos together in public. A reported 10,000 videos were submitted for inclusion in the event, which were then narrowed down to 79 carefully curated selections in categories such as Comedy, Drama, Foreign, Animated, Documentary, Musical, Art House, Lifetime Achievement, and People's Choice.

People's Choice nominees, including Cat Mom Hugs Baby Kitten, Dubstep Cat, Henri 2, Paw de Deux, Maru Slides into Boxes, Nonono Cat, Nyan Cat, and Two Talking Cats, were open to a public vote from Aug. 6 - 12, with Will Braden's masterful Henri 2, Paw de Deux taking home the evening's coveted Golden Kitty Award. Attendees were encouraged to bring along their own cats (few did, although some kitties braved the crowds on leashes and in strollers), and were also treated to appearances by feline celebrities like Lil Bub and Pudge the Cat. The free festival, which clocked in at just under two hours, was held on a sprawling hill outside of the museum, which quickly filled up to standing room only capacity. Latecomers marveled at the size of the crowd, which reportedly numbered in the thousands.

If you're thinking about holding your own private cat video viewing session, fear not because Walker Art Center has already posted the entire festival playlist on YouTube for your viewing pleasure. Also, there's still time to get involved -- the public is encouraged to vote for the "Best in Show" award by tweeting their pick (more details here), before the winner is announced on Sept. 7.

As expected, the event inspired a heavy Twitter presence, enabling those who were unable to attend to live vicariously through festivalgoers. From crashing canines to cat fashion, #catvidfest was a trending topic that even the real Nyan Cat and the Mayor of Minneapolis couldn't resist.

Choupette Celebrates Her First Birthday In Style

Choupette just turned 1!! Happy Birthday!!

Choupette, feline darling of the fashion world, has been getting a lot of virtual ink over the past few weeks (three posts in as many weeks right here on Catsparella), but how many cats (or humans) do you know who have graced the pages of i-D, V, and Harper's Bazaar, all before they turn one?

This weekend, Choupette celebrated that very milestone, by indulging in a birthday meal fit for a kitty princess. On Sunday, Karl Lagerfeld (or let's be honest, whoever runs his Twitter account) tweeted a photo of the diva dining on a small plate of shrimp, decorated with a single candle in honor of the momentous occasion.

The designer has said that the pampered puss doesn't like eating on the floor, but it looks like the promise of her own private crustacean buffet was enough to distract her attention. Her normal meals are said to consist of croquettes and pâté.

We wish you a very happy birthday, Choupette, and many more to come! Hopefully daddy gave you lots of Chanel bags (to play in!) to help celebrate your special day!

After Much Deliberation, Ke$ha Names Her New Kitten Mr. Peep$

It's been a busy month for Ke$ha, who recently joined fellow pop stars Taylor Swift and Katy Perry in setting the Twittersphere ablaze with cute cat pic$.

On July 2, the "Tik Tok" singer posted a picture of a sleepy Siamese, along with the message, "Ok. so last night after hitting a gnarly strip club this little guy was handed to me through my car window."

The following day, the glitter-encrusted musician asked fans for help naming her "rescue baby cat," even offering up a crayon-scrawled list of options, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, Penguin, and Mr. Peep$. "I wish I was a cat so I could wag my tail and bite people + it would be totally socially acceptable," she mused. "Me + kitty gonna go write dem hits."

Days passed, more pictures were posted, but the young puss still didn't have a proper name. That is, until this morning when the singer dutifully announced, "Finally after much deliberation we have arrived at a name for my lil baby kitty. We shall call him Mr. Peep$."

Normally, this would be the part of the story where I would ask who's cuter: Meredith Swift, Kitty Purry, or Mr. Peep$, but since all cats are inherently adorable, I'll leave it at that and wish Ke$ha the best of luck with her new kitty!
