Choupette Lagerfeld Shares German Vogue Cover With Linda Evangelista

Karl Lagerfeld's beloved cat, Choupette, is back, this time on the July cover of German Vogue alongside supermodel Linda Evangelista. The striking black and white cover was shot by Lagerfeld himself, and is not the feline's first foray into print. At barely two years old, Choupette, arguably the most famous cat in fashion, has already conquered the pages of V, Vanity Fair, and i-D, among others.

The pampered puss, who is notorious for living a lavish style which includes private jets, personal maids, and her own iPad (from which she presumably runs her popular Twitter account), recently made headlines after the designer expressed interest in turning her into his furry bride.

“There is no marriage, yet, for human beings and animals," the Chanel mastermind told CNN's Alina Cho. "I never thought that I would fall in love like this with a cat.”

Choupette Gets Kissed by Daddy Karl in New Cat Cam Clip for Net-a-Porter

Just when I thought a whole week might go by without a new piece of Choupette news to report, fashion's latest it girl (or it cat, as it were) has gone and found herself yet another medium to enchant us with.

The blue-eyed Birman makes her long awaited YouTube debut in a behind-the-scenes video to help promote the Karl for Karl Lagerfeld collection for Net-a-Porter. The clip, which is shot from a cat's point of view (although there's no way I believe they strapped a camera on Choupette and let her wander around an open set where she could get lost or catnapped), ends with Lagerfeld planting a sweet smooch on the bemused kitty's cheek.

Recent reports suggest that Lagerfeld's love for the cat runs so deep, he's even taken to signing texts, "Your Choupette," to make it seem as if she were responding to messages on his behalf. While the designer's ailurophilia seems genuine, only time will tell if his newly discovered feline fixation will translate into a cat-inspired clothing collection in the future.

Choupette Celebrates Her First Birthday In Style

Choupette just turned 1!! Happy Birthday!!

Choupette, feline darling of the fashion world, has been getting a lot of virtual ink over the past few weeks (three posts in as many weeks right here on Catsparella), but how many cats (or humans) do you know who have graced the pages of i-D, V, and Harper's Bazaar, all before they turn one?

This weekend, Choupette celebrated that very milestone, by indulging in a birthday meal fit for a kitty princess. On Sunday, Karl Lagerfeld (or let's be honest, whoever runs his Twitter account) tweeted a photo of the diva dining on a small plate of shrimp, decorated with a single candle in honor of the momentous occasion.

The designer has said that the pampered puss doesn't like eating on the floor, but it looks like the promise of her own private crustacean buffet was enough to distract her attention. Her normal meals are said to consist of croquettes and pâté.

We wish you a very happy birthday, Choupette, and many more to come! Hopefully daddy gave you lots of Chanel bags (to play in!) to help celebrate your special day!

Laetitia Casta and Choupette Lagerfeld Go Paris Glam for V Magazine

Laetitia Casta & Choupette for V Magazine

It's only been a week since Choupette Lagerfeld made her editorial debut in i-D, but she's already poised to cement her title as the world's most fashionable feline. Often referred to as the "Kate Moss of the cat modeling world," the pampered Parisian puss recently posed with her designer cat daddy Karl Lagerfeld for Harper's Bazaar, and French supermodel Laetitia Casta for V.

The V editorial, shot by Lagerfeld in the City of Light, features Casta posing seductively on a bed overlooking the Eiffel Tower, with Choupette standing in as her very furry prop. In the accompanying article, Casta says, “She is an unusually beautiful cat, and it was a lovely experience.”

BuzzFeed Shift recently posted an in-depth article about the "rapidly growing world of cat modeling," focusing on the rise of Choupette and the increasing demand for kitties in the high fashion biz. The gist of it is that cats are considered chic right now, model cats require training from birth, your house cat probably isn't going to hit it big, and even if they do, there's not a lot of money in it for pussycats who pose.

Visit V Magazine to check out "Laetitia Casta & Choupette Glamourpuss" in its entirety, or thumb through the 10-page spread at your leisure, when the issue hits newsstands on August 30.

Karl Lagerfeld Lets The Cat Out Of The Bag On Choupette For i-D Magazine

Choupette

Up until recently, Choupette Lagerfeld has remained somewhat of an enigma. The cat is the furry daughter of acerbic fashion designer, Karl Lagerfeld, a reputed dog person, until the cream colored kitten stole his heart earlier this year.

As previously reported, the couture kitty lives in Paris, where she fills her time by playing on her iPad, and being tended to by personal maids who document her every move. She gets taken to the vet every 10 days for check-ups (although not by Karl, because he doesn't want her to be "furious" with him), and also makes trips to St Tropez on Lagerfeld's private jet, where she gets to sit in the cockpit because she loves looking at the sky (those same baby blues are also rumored to have inspired an entire Chanel collection).

"The Coco Cat" by Karl Lagerfeld

While most world famous cats might consider Cat Fancy for their first big feature, Choupette gave first dibs to i-D Magazine. Lagerfeld recently treated the edgy fashion publication to several never-before-seen pictures of the feline fashionista, including some of his very own dramatic sketches.

Here is the place of the cat

In an accompanying piece, the designer completed a Q&A on the kitty, in which he revealed her nicknames (Princess Choupette or Miss Choupette), and waxed poetic on her "endless boa-like feather tail." We also learn that like many cats, Choupette hates "water and getting wet," while she relishes popular feline activities such as "sleeping, hiding, running and jumping like mad around the house."

"(She likes) chasing big fleas in her private garden and making it difficult for me work by jumping on the paper," he says. "She loves to destroy paper, that is what she loves to do the most and also driving her beloved maids (Francoise and Marjorie) crazy. With me she is sweet and calm."

Click over to i-D to check out more exclusive Choupette pics, and get ready to see a whole lot more of the exquisite kitty, as Karl has also hinted that she will be making upcoming appearances in Harper's Bazaar, V Magazine, and W Magazine.

Karl Lagerfeld's Cat Lives A Lavish Lifestyle That Most Of Us Can Only Dream About

Fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld recently had a heart-to-heart with WWD about his main interests beyond fashion design and dieting. It turns out that the Chanel impresario is more of a crazy cat person than the rest of us, as he revealed while talking about the unusual relationship he shares with his kitten, Choupette:

"She is a famous beauty. She is nine months old. Baptiste gave her to me for Christmas to watch for two weeks when he was away but then I refused to give her back. I thought she was too cute. She is like a kept woman. She has a strong personality. She has lunch and dinner with me on the table, with her own food. She doesn’t touch my food. She doesn’t want to eat on the floor. She sleeps under a pillow and she even knows how to use an iPad. She has two personal maids, for both night and day. She is beyond spoiled."

In addition to Choupette's kept ways, it appears that Lagerfeld has also taken on the peculiar habit of documenting every whisker of the kitten's existence. Not content to record cat videos to track her antics, Choupette's maids (Note to self: become a paid cat maid) keep a daily diary, obsessively creating an everlasting record devoted to the details of her luxurious life.

"We do keep a diary," he admits. "When I am not there, the maids take down, in little books, everything she did, from what she ate, to how she behaved, if she was tired, and if she wasn’t sleeping. In the nine months, we already have almost 600 pages. Colette had written a lot about cats. I am not Colette, but I think it could be funny to make a little book of Choupette’s diary."

Naturally, less than twenty four hours after this story broke, Choupette has already taken paw to iPad, and started a Twitter account of her own. As of this writing, @ChoupettesDiary has already amassed over 1,500 followers, including influencers like Nicky Hilton and V Magazine.

When asked by Fashionista if she was interested in joining any other social media platforms in the future, the pampered puss replied, "Between napping, chasing invisible air particles, and feedings I have little time for such trivial activities." She also refused to comment on the latest trend of severely obese felines, reasoning, "I am part of the fashion community–how do you expect me to answer such a question."

In case you were wondering if Lagerfeld had any plans to translate his ailurophilia into a line of cat clothing, he doesn't. "No, I don’t like animals in human clothes," he says. "I think that’s very circuslike.” While he doesn't advocate dressing up his feline models in clothing, I wouldn't be surprised to see his human ones strutting down the catwalk in Choupette-inspired fashions in the future!
