Turn Your Rear Windshield Wiper Into A Cat

Moving Tail Kitty Car Decal

The cat-repreneurial folks over at ThinkGeek recently added a new feline-inspired item to their ever expanding cache of kitty products: A moving tail car decal, that's only illegal in *some* states.

The hilarious decal was designed for cars with a rear window wiper, but can also be stuck to any clean, smooth surface.

Moving Tail Kitty Car Decal

For $12.99, you'll receive four tabby tails, and "happy" and "grumpy" kitties, which can be swapped out based on your levels of road rage.

The distracting decals make a great accompaniment to these crazy cat lady stickers, but be warned -- too many cats on your car could lead to a pussycat inspired pile-up.

Catmopolitan Vintage Cat Parody Magazine Giveaway!

It's no secret that I'm a huge fan of the 80s phenomenon known as cat parody books and magazines (see also: Vanity Fur and Cat High: The Yearbook), so it shouldn't be a shock that on on a recent sweep of my bookshelf, I came across an extra copy of the 1987 feline sex and fashion opus, Catmopolitan by Ilene Hochberg.

Much like its namesake, Catmo (which I originally featured here), fearlessly delves into important feline topics like getting your claws into Mr. Right, and the catastrophe that is catnip addiction. The best part, though, is the meow-out-loud worthy ads for brands such as Estée Longhair, Clawnique, Maidenfur, Espurrit, and more, which are displayed alongside articles on "Cathletics and Feline Fitness," "Colorful Collars To Catch His Eye," and "The Cat's Out of the Bag - He's Been Pussyfooting Around."

Enter To Win!

I'm giving one lucky reader the chance to win my extra copy of Catmopolitan (keep in mind this is a used copy I picked up in my travels, so it's in good, but not perfect condition).

To enter, leave a comment on this post with your name, and some way for me to contact you if you win (email, link back to your blog or profile, Twitter, etc.) The winner be will chosen in a random drawing next Tuesday, Aug 20 at 5:00PM EST. This giveaway is open to everyone, so our international friends can participate too. One entry per person please, and good luck to all!!

(If you have trouble leaving a comment, email me at catsparella@gmail.com)

Team Coco Presents Songs To Sing To Cats

Folks like me who suffer from frequent bouts of cat song writer's block are breathing a sigh of relief, because last night Conan aired a commercial for a new product that will finally take the creative burden off our hands.

Songs To Sing To Cats is a full-length CD featuring instant classics like, "American kitty dancing on banana," and "I got a kitty for a moustache and I'm going to the bar tonight," that you can bust out anytime you need to serenade your kitty with a quick tune. The album also comes with a bonus Half a Song You Can Sing To Your Dog EP, and a free "Your cat won't look at it ball" that's sure to provide endless hours of boredom for the entire family.

Unfortunately, and the fake disc can only be obtained by mailing your wallet to the dumpster behind your local Subway, so don't go looking for it on Spotify just yet.

"You're my favorite creature in the world, more important than anyone else.."

Curious Kitty Caught Hacking Into His Human's Computer

Redditor spunwasi wanted to get to the bottom of who was waking up his computer when he wasn't around, so he set up software to snap a picture of the perpetrator.

The result? This hilarious shot of 20-pound Maine Coon, Fizzy Womack, caught in the act. Check out another pic of the cuddly culprit here.

Feline Miscommunication Leads To Best Graduation Cake Gaffe Ever

True story: When I graduated from college, I made my own embellishment to the cake: A small Hello Kitty figurine that I fitted with its own little cap.

If only I had known that other, far less boring options were available, I too could have rejoiced in a little cat cap of my own.

When Laura Gambrel graduated from Indiana University last month, her mom Carol decided to order a cake with her picture on it to celebrate. In addition to specifying that the cake should include Laura's school colors (red and white), she also requested that the decorator try to draw a "little cap" on her daughter's head.

In a hilarious miscommunication torn straight from the virtual pages of Cake Wrecks (in case you're not familiar with the site, their tagline is "When professional cakes go horribly, hilariously wrong"), the bakery employee mistook her request for "cap" as CAT, and thus the legendary baked good was born.

The image of the glorious cake, featuring Laura's head topped with the tiny icing cat, has now gone viral on Reddit, Gawker, and even appeared on Good Morning America this A.M.

Fortunately, the graduate and her family had a good sense of humor about the whole thing ("I could not stop laughing," she says), and insisted that the feline chapeau stay.

As one Gawker commenter helpfully points out, "Remember, after you've received your degree, you flip the tail from the right to the left."

Hamilton The Hipster Cat Mustache You A Question

Hamilton the Hipster Cat

Some cats wear tuxedos, while others sport a permanent 'stache. The internet's latest emerging celebrikitty is Hamilton the Hipster Cat, a gorgeous gray maned puss from San Francisco. According to SFGate, the Maine Coon/Norwegian Forest mix had trouble getting adopted from the shelter at first because of his skittish nature, until he found a home with comedian Jay Stowe.

Now, the considerably calmer feline is winning over fans with the most impressive mustache you've ever seen. In addition to spawning memes and possessing popular profiles on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, Ham also has a t-shirt deal in the works with Urban Outfitters, and a manager is on the horizon, too.

As Stowe tells SFGate, "I learned early on that I will never be able to compete with Ham’s mustache. It’s just easier to let him be the debonair one in the house." Gentlemen, throw away your razors, because it doesn't get any better than this.

Magical Cats Dressed As Sushi Question Their Life Choices

Japanese company Tange & Nakimushi Peanuts have created an online sensation with their oddly amusing pictures of cats dressed as sushi. The adorably confused kitties appear nestled on clumps of rice, along with decidedly un-nigiri like toppings, including ping pong balls and knitting needles.

History of Sushi Cats

In addition to the collection of photos, there's also a video delving into the history of these rare and magical felines, who are rumored to bring good luck. And, once you're fully invested in the legend of Nekozushi, be sure to check out the free mobile game app, and online shop (in Japanese, natch), where for a few thousand yen, you can get your paws on sushi cats prints, postcards, fans, and more.

Still struggling to understand the complicated, yet beautiful, world of Sushi Cats? Their website offers the following explanation:

"Neko-Sushi is an extremely unusual life-form consisting of a cat on top of a portion of sushi rice. Although several references have come down to us through history from various researchers and witnesses, their existence is still shrouded in mystery and actual sightings remain rare.

There are several academics who have devoted their lives to the study of these creatures. According to a number of these, Neko-Sushi make use of gaps in space to come to us from an alternate dimension. Beyond these "gaps" lies the world of the Neko-Sushi in which, it is recently understood, lies the true identity of the cats that dwell with us here in the human dimension."

Work It Kitty! Cats Get A Hilarious Fitness Routine In New Temptations Clip

Alex Gaudino ft. Taboo "I Don't Wanna Dance" - Work It Kitty

In the past week you've probably witnessed a cat in a shark costume chasing a baby duckling on a Roomba
, and the kitty who gets his kicks by licking the vacuum cleaner hose, but have you seen "Work It Kitty!", the feline fitness tape produced exclusively for cats?

Kate and George, owners of "The Best Little Cat House" cat hotel, came up with the idea after observing one of their charges watching aerobics on TV. After wondering why cats don't have workout videos, the couple set out to make one of their own.

The silly (and endlessly giffable) routine features low impact, cat-friendly moves like the rear leg lift, paw rotation, and a box jumping exercise that even Maru would love.

The fictional feline workout is actually part of a clever ad campaign for Temptations cat treats, featuring the music of Italian DJ Alex Gaudino, featuring Taboo. In addition to the video, there's also a website dedicated to the spirited routine, where you can find bios for each of the cathletes, tips on keeping your cat active, and more digital downloads in the future.

Mischievous Kitty Gets Heatproof Boots To Protect His Paws In The Kitchen

If I didn't know better, I'd think this was a late April Fools' Day joke, but a UK-based food takeout delivery company recently commissioned a futuristic pair of protective booties for a cat named Mischief, who has a history of burning himself on the stove.

In honor of National Pet Month, Just Eat commissioned the one-of-a-kind pair of shoes (not to be confused with "Kitten Mittons"), after the cat's owner complained about his antics on their Facebook page. The yellow and red heatproof hooves were custom made to fit Mischief's tiny paws, and stay attached with velcro.

His dutiful owner, Jackie Cable, told Metro that although the cat means the world to her, he makes cooking a "nightmare" because he's always getting underfoot. The 3-year-old has reportedly burned his paw pads on the stove at least three times in the past, with one incident even requiring veterinary care.

While it's anyone's guess if the shoes will actually work, Cable remains optimistic. "I can relax in the kitchen when I’m cooking now and I don’t have to keep looking over my shoulder to check on him," she says.

Cat Who Sits Up Like A Human Ponders Life Beyond The Scratching Post

Last week, Reddit user Kagrabular caused an online sensation when he shared some pictures of his friend's tuxedo cat, who has an unusually adorable way he likes to sit:

"The adoption place told my friend that his cat's back legs were slightly malformed," he wrote. "They didn't know if it was from a past injury, or if he was born that way. He sits a little weird sometimes, and can't quite run normal. But he is in great health, and loves to stoically look out the window."

Be still my heart. Those dangling kitty toes get me every time.

Careers For Cat Lovers: Feline Lap Surrogate

You know how they say when something sounds too good to be true, it probably is? Well, that's likely the case here, but a girl can dream that this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity actually exists. A recent (now defunct) Craigslist ad based out of Columbus put the feelers out for a cozily named "Feline Lap Surrogate," charged with letting an 18-year-old cat sit on their lap for four hours a day, while its beleaguered owner tries to get some work done. Oh yeah, the pay is $15 an hour.

I have to say, as someone whose cat enjoys stymying my online activities by splaying herself across the keyboard, the idea of a cat distractor sounds pretty legit. Requirements include experience handling senior cats and no allergies (natch), plus you'll even be provided with breakfast and lunch for your troubles.

My fondest wish is that this listing actually panned out and some lucky cat person is cuddling up with the insatiable lap-hog as we speak, but dollars to donuts says the job didn't last long, once the original poster realized their kitty preferred its human's lap over an imitation lap top.

Cats That Look Like Pin-Up Girls Blows The Lid Off The Cat Modeling World

Pin-up girls and pussycats go together like peas and carrots, so it's surprising it took so long for someone to create Cats That Look Like Pinup Girls, a new Tumblr dedicated to revealing the similarities between the two.

Maru's innocent gaze never looked so scandalous as when placed next to a saucy sailor, while other shots prove that flexibility and a well-groomed coat are the key to getting the purrfect shot.

So who is the mastermind that matched these pretty kitties with their pin-up counterparts? The blog was created by the owners of Hurly Burly, an Australian clothing store that specializes in goth, rockabilly, punk, and pin-up looks.

Cat High: The Yearbook

What would it be like if cats went to school? Terry deRoy Gruber aimed to find out in the 1984 classic, "Cat High: The Yearbook." Designed to resemble an actual yearbook, the book's black and white pages are stuffed with superlatives and scrawled signatures alongside silly photos of clothed cats, in the spirit of fellow 80s parody mags like Vanity Fur and Catmopolitan.

As the description explains, "For those unacquainted with Cat High, it is located in the town of Paw Paw near the famous battle of Gerbil Hill. The student body is made up of such pursonalities as Earnest Bootstraps, Fred Fur, Curiosity Kildecat, and Eugene Fuzzerelli. But as hilarious as the text is, it is the hundreds of pictures of cats, in all their human outfits and expression, that will make readers cat-atonic with laughter."
