Kitty Cops Find Purrfect Home At Korean Police Station

"Freeze! It's the purr-lice!" - Mango and Mango Kobun

I always love a feline officer of the law, and my heart was warmed once again by the story of Mango and Mango Kobun, two kitties who have taken up residence at a police station in Seoul, South Korea.

Kotaku reports that Mango was brought to the station back in June, after being discovered in a dumpster. Things weren't looking good for the kitten, who was facing euthanasia if his owner wasn't found. Worse yet, after taking a trip to the vet, they found a lump in his stomach that required costly surgery to remove.

Thankfully, a compassionate officer attempted to raise money to cover the procedure, and when the vet heard about his plight, offered to operate at a discount. The surgery was a success, and Mango was able to return to the police station in purrfect condition.

If that wasn't a happy enough ending,  another cat, almost identical appearance to Mango, showed up at the same precinct a short time later. The kind officers once again decided to take in the starving stray, and now both cats live at the station where they are paid in playtime and snacks!

Meet The Pusspins!

Meet the Pusspins!

Have you met the Pusspins? I was recently introduced to the adorable sextuplet, illustrated by the extremely talented Reg Silva.

Watchudoing?

The Pusspins (from the Filipino term “puspin,” a politically-correct word for "pusakal" (street cat), are a group of six insanely adorable felines and their equally crazy and cute kitty antics. The kitties each have their own personalities, but share an affinity for fishies, naps, playtime, catnip, and of course, Caturday!

Reg was inspired by her own puspins at home: Sushi, a tricolor domestic shorthair, and Tiger, a brown mackerel tabby. They’re joined by other cats which were created from her imagination or were based on real cats that roam around her neighborhood.

Sushi

She tells me, "Sushi adopted me when when my family and I moved to a new house-- Sushi was already there, as a kitten who was regularly fed by the construction workers."

Tiger and Midnight

"Tiger (pictured with my plush cat, Midnight, also the basis of the Pusspins version), on the other hand, was given to me as a kitten by a friend. I got both cats late last year. I'm a first-time cat owner (but long time cat lover) and since owning cats, I've found cats showing up more regularly in my work as an illustrator."

Super Cat

The Pusspins, who have only been around for about a month, started out as lazy doodles in Reg's sketchbook of Tiger, Sushi, and some cat essentials like litter boxes and cat toys. Today, there are over a dozen adorable illustrations, including fan art dedicated to some of my favs like cat behaviorist Jackson Galaxy, and the internet's own Lil Bub!

Jackson Galaxy

Lil Bub

Silva, a freelance illustrator whose bright, fun, and playful work has appeared on toys, games, and books throughout the world, doesn't have any items featuring the kitties for sale just yet (darn!), but if Pusspins catch on, look out for a whole line of merch in the future. If you can't wait to get your cute kitty fix, she also recently released a pair of desktop wallpapers that you can download for free on her site.

Wasabi-chan's Spirit Lives On Through Rescued Kitten

Ichimi

After the sudden passing of Japanese kitten Wasabi-chan in August, her owner has decided to keep the kitten's memory alive by opening her heart and home to another cat in need.

Jessiepon recently introduced the world to Ichimi, a tiny tabby with the face of an angel. Through photos released on Wasabi-chan's Instagram account, we've learned that the kitten was abandoned by her mother, and is gaining weight steadily through bottle-feeding.

Ichimi was quickly accepted by the furry and feathered members of Jessiepon's household, including Ponzu the Golden Retriever. The protective pup was left heartbroken after the death of little Wasabi-chan, but has already showered the new kitten with kisses and cuddles.

Wasabi-chan can never be replaced, but the rescued kitten has provided much needed comfort to her grieving family and fans. We wish much love to Ichimi, and hope that she lives a long and healthy life!

Baby Bug Is the Instagram Celebrity That No One Wanted

Baby Bug!

A few months ago I started following Baby Bug, a happy and healthy kitty who doesn't quite look like other cats. The Las Vegas native describes herself as "just a cat with a facial deformity who is fabulous," and it's hard to disagree. In fact, it's those unique looks and sassy attitude that have helped her claim a spot as one of the internet's top felines. Her popular Instagram page (@thebabybug) already boasts over 11,000 loyal followers, putting her in the ranks of other quirky kitties like Lil Bub, Chase No Face, and Quasi from My Ugly Kitty.

I recently asked Bug's mom, Melissa, to tell us a little more about the famous feline. She also spilled on how the cat "no one wanted" finally found her forever home.

Check out Bug's story in Melissa's words below!

Put your paws up, cuz you were born this way Baby (Bug)!

I got Bug when she was 5-months-old. A few months earlier, my kitten, Max, who was also 5-months-old, passed away from a problem with his intestines twisting, and I had been devastated. My fiancé and friends told me to get another kitten, but I wasn't ready. On a whim, I was on Petfinder one day "just to look" at some cats, and came across this picture:

I thought she was so different looking. I sent the picture to a fellow crazy cat lady friend of mine and she told me I HAD to go adopt her. I still wasn't sure I was ready, so I didn't go to the shelter. I think it was two days later I checked Petfinder again and found this picture of her:

The feline formerly known as "Goonie"

The shelter had named her "Goonie" because they thought she resembled the character Sloth from the movie "Goonies." I thought this was the cutest picture ever and immediately decided to go meet her. She was at the local pound, which is a kill shelter, and I just couldn't leave her. I grabbed my 11-year-old-son and headed straight there.

At the shelter we walked around looking for her, and the staff was pretty uninterested. They told me that my son wouldn't be allowed to hold a cat once we found the one we were looking for. When we finally found Bug, she wasn't sleeping in a corner of her cage like most of the other cats. She was pacing like a little tiger and meowing her own little meow that has a long 'brrrrrrrrrrrrreow' sound like she's rolling her R's. She came right up to the glass and started rubbing her head against it. This is the first picture I took of her in the cage at the shelter:

Are you my new mom?

As soon as the staff saw we were interested in Bug, they became super friendly and helpful and insisted it was totally ok if my son held her. We took her out, and they told me that she had been there for some time and they had been trying hard to get her adopted.

Caught Catchatting again..

Most of the staff had fallen in love with her and had been posting pictures of her on their personal Facebook pages trying to get her a home. They said people liked to look at her as an oddity, but no one wanted to actually take her home because of her funny face.

Who you calling "funny face"?

The vets I have spoken to have said she has a facial deformity that she was born with. For just meeting her she was uncommonly friendly. I've never seen a cat so comfortable in a situation like that. My son and I immediately fell in love with her and decided to adopt her right away. Even on the car ride home she showed no signs of stress. It was weird but really cool. This picture was taken on the way home:

After we adopted her, I was completely obsessed with taking pictures of her. I was posting so many that I decided to make her an Instagram account so that my cat loving friends could see pictures of her without annoying everyone else. I wasn't expecting her to get as popular as she has become. I've had her for ten months now, and I'm still obsessed.

Bug likes napping with her mama...

...and cozying up to her furry family members, too!

Everyone loves how she looks, but I wish people could meet her and see how much her personality matches what's on the outside. She is the silliest, sweetest little thing. She can't stand any doors closed in the house ever and will do her weird little meow non-stop if there is one closed.

She likes to ride on shoulders and will claw her way up there if you pick her up. She looooves ice cream and hair ties. She has a condition called Pica that causes her to want to eat EVERYTHING. Her vet says that she is a little mentally challenged, lol... so she does act a bit odd. She's not like any other cat I've ever had, but I love her and I don't know what I'd do without her.

Special thanks to Melissa for taking the time to share Baby Bug's story! Get access to all of her latest pics on the official Baby Bug Instagram and Facebook page.

Gilles Marini Has A Kitten Named Penelope, And She Is Precious

Gilles & Penelope

French American actor Gilles Marini, perhaps best known for his head turning role in the first Sex and the City movie and for his second place win on Season 8 of Dancing with the Stars, recently welcomed a new leading lady into his life, and he isn't afraid to share their love with the world.

Back in May, the actor and his wife surprised their daughter, Juliana, with a fluffy white kitten named Penelope (not to be confused with Kourtney Kardashian's infant daughter of the same name), to help teach her the responsibility, love, and dedication that come along with being a parent.

Since then, the precocious Persian has quickly become a treasured member of the Marini clan, frequently popping up in pictures posted on Gilles's various social media accounts.

Here is she is cuddling with his wife, Carole.

Getting friendly with the family fish (who apparently lived to see another day).

Making fast friends with Mila the Frenchie.

Taking glamour shots (his daughter told him that she "fell" into the makeup box...uh huh!)

And trying out for the starring role in the live action version of Puss in Boot(s).

To get the last updates on Penelope as she grows up from kitten to cat, follow Gilles Marini on FacebookTwitter, and Instagram.

The 2013 Itty Bitty Kitty Committee Fundraiser!

Charlene Butterbean and Wylla Stout, live from the IBKC FUNdraising campaign headquarters

It's that time of year again! The Itty Bitty Kitty Committee, aka your other favorite cat blog and the web's premiere source of adorable kitten pix, is holding their annual FUNDraiser, in conjunction with the Tacoma & Pierce County Humane Society's annual Dog-A-Thon walk for homeless pets, taking place on July 20 in Lakewood, Washington!

Since 2007, Laurie Cinotto has been documenting the daily lives of the kittens she fosters along with her husband Craig, and their resident cats, Charlene Butterbean, and recent addition, Wylla Stout. The couple have opened their hearts and doors to 168 kittens over the years, and since 2009, have raised $260,000 for the shelter. This year, their goal is an impressive $100,000 (100 squillion in kittenspeak), and with 9 days left, Team IBKC is well on their way.

Wylla's are standing by to take your call!

Although the event is called Dog-A-Thon, Laurie promises that all the funds raised will go to benefit cat initiatives

"All of the money we raise will go directly to the cats and kittens. It will help fund the foster program and in-house and off-site adoption programs. It will help make many shelter improvements for the cats. It will buy cats cozy little fleece beds and other comforting items. It will help reduce the cost of spay and neuter surgeries for cats of lower income families. It will also help fund a  program at the shelter designed specifically to help elderly pet owners on fixed incomes who can’t afford to feed their beloved companions. It will feed and provide medical care for tiny kittens, adult and senior cats. It will help make life better for our amazing shelter cats, while they wait for their forever families to come along."

2013 Itty Bitty Committee Fundraiser Poster by Jay Bryant

This year, the campaign has been focused on catching up with some popular IBKC graduates to see how they've grown from bouncing baby kittens, into refined felines. There's also plenty of matching donation challenges, and days dedicated to special causes, like the senior cat medical fund.

Laurie recently unveiled a poster designed by Jay Bryant (Wylla's little tag reads, "I'm with Bean!") to benefit the cause, and the popular "Tea with the Bean" (your opportunity to have lunch at IBKC headquarters), is back on the auction block. To give you an idea of  just how popular these guys are, as of this writing, it's already up to $777.77!

Visit The Itty Bitty Kitty Committee to get your daily fix of charming kitten pics, and click over to their FirstGiving page to make a tax-deductible donation, and learn more about the event.

Meet Wasabi-chan, The Cutest Kitten In The World

Wasabi-chan

Meet Wasabi-chan. The tiny Japanese kitten was found crying on the street last month after surviving a vicious crow attack, that left her with a fractured jaw and a hole in her throat.

Since then, her rescuers have been documenting the tiny tabby's progress on Twitter and Instagram, where she can be seen growing healthier (and even more adorable) by the day.

Due to her severe mouth injuries, Wasabi-chan had to be fed with a tube. She reacted violently to the treatment, so her owner's grandma crocheted tiny outfits to keep the kitten still, while she received her much needed sustenance.

Marvel at Wasabi-chan's perfectly handcrafted mushroom outfit.

And her brief stint as cod roe.

Which inspired some incredible fan art, like a stamp by @Movie0girl,

And a wool doll by @Ayanya.

Once Wasabi-chan started feeling stronger, she started to explore!

And quickly went paws up for new friends.

Like these friendly pups...

A parakeet...

And a red velvet cake (why not?).

She even had a top secret meeting with E.T., where they reminisced about their home planet.

Today, this lil' lady is doing great, and you can follow her adventures on Instagram, where there are videos of her too!

I've see quite a lot of kittens in my day, so I don't think I'm out of bounds saying that Wasabi-chan is quite possibly the cutest kitten in the world. Do you agree?
