Baines & Fricker Cat Wallpaper From Anthropologie

Cats Wallpaper by Baines & Fricker

So the the Omega Cats wallpaper was too bold for you, and you don't have time to painstakingly stencil hundreds of kitties on your wall? Another cute (albeit pricey) option in the world of cat decor is the pretty pastel Cats Wallpaper by Baines & Fricker, currently available at Anthropologie.

The feline-inspired wall coverings are made in the UK, and feature carefree kitty heads, floating in a sea of mint or pink. Each $198 roll is digitally printed, and includes enough cats to cover 56 square feet.

Cat-Inspired Color Palettes Match Cute Kitties With Correct Hues

Kitten Hues

Design Seeds is a website I discovered over the summer, dedicated to creating unique color palettes based on beautiful objects. While over there browsing recently, I noticed they put up a few more feline-inspired palettes since we last checked in, including kitty feet and... zOMG kittens! (also, a Pug Palette? Yes, please!).

Besides being something pretty to look at, use the color boards as motivation to redecorate a room, or to style a look you can brag is inspired by "cat tones". Now if you don't mind, I'm off to paint my walls in "kitten hues"!

Cat Tunnel Sofa Delights Cats, Deprives Owners of Cuddles

We've already seen a giant couch designed to look like a cat, and now Korean designer Seungji Mun has raised the stakes by creating a cat-friendly sofa that allows you and your kitty to lounge together in purrfect harmony.

"We would like to use ‘the furniture’ as a tool to share emotions and feelings with pets," Mun writes on his blog. "This Cat Tunnel Sofa is to communicate and share feelings with a cat."

The need to create shared spaces between humans and animals has increased as pets continue to become beloved companions and members of the family. Mun says that 10 million people in Korea are currently living with pets.

While the super cool couch was clearly designed with a cat's happiness in mind, I have to wonder about owner's. While my cats would surely enjoy an extra hidey hole around the house (and it would be a great space saver), I fear that the allure of the hamster-like tunnels would put an end to couch cuddling for good.

Mun says the sofa was designed after analyzing and observing cat habits and behaviors, along with research and expert input.

The prototype is not currently available for sale, but you can check out a more detailed look at what went into creating the sofa here.

Pinterest Finds For Pet-Friendly Living

I have partnered with Apartment Guide to serve as an Official Apartment Guide Pet Blogger! As an official blogger, I will be sharing articles and ideas for exploring your space, city and style.

I'm a fan of Pinterest (the social media site where you can visually organize your interests through virtual pin boards) because it allows me to generate inspiration for blog posts, organize my ideas, and promote cool images and products that I'd like to share. That's why I was excited for my latest Apartment Guide article, when the brand invited me to contribute to their "Pet Friendly Ideas" board. My mission was to find and share fun home accents and accessories that are purrfect for any home, but focusing on ideas that would be especially helpful for renters and those living in small spaces.

Being a renter, I don't have much input into the color of my carpet and walls, so one way I like to bring my own personal style into the mix is through unique artwork. Society6 has a fantastic array of reasonably priced art prints that come in various sizes (and even framed, if you prefer), that will contribute to just the vibe you are looking for. I'm currently in love with the "Cat Power" print by Irina Sidorowicz, because of its unique use of color, vintage look, and quirky black Persian, whose mask matches its owner!

Petlinks System Dream Curl - Wag.com, $29.99

Part of apartment living or living in a small face is finding portable and reasonably sized items that serve more than one purpose. I mentioned the Dream Curl when we first got it last year, and am happy to report that Charlie still loves sitting on it and scratching away. The only casualty so far has been the toy feather underneath, which Priscilla the hunter made quick work out of.

Another fun way to punch up a small space is with funky pillows that can be easily switched out when you're ready to try a new look. Etsy has a nice selection of cat-themed pillows, but the colorful bunting and Parisian flair really made this one stand-out. (Plus, add your own pom-poms, and your cats are sure to love it, too!)

Why get a plain feeding mat, when you can get one that looks like a giant black cat head? Keeping with the Parisian theme, I also like ORE Vintage Parisian Cat Placement that will have your cats speaking French in no time. Miaou!

Tabby Cats Rule Night Light - Get To Know You Know, $22

My bathroom is right outside my bedroom door, and it gets really dark out there at night. If you are five-years-old like me, don't be afraid to add a cool kitty night light to keep away the ghoulies and/or prevent you from walking into things in the middle of the night. In addition to this awesome style, they also offer Calico Cats Rule, Soon..., and The Cheshire Cat designs to chose from.

BlanketID Tags - blanketid.com, $24.99 for a tag + 1 year of membership (discounts available for multiple years)

It's always a good idea to have some identification on your cat, particularly in an area where you're renting and may not know too many of your neighbors. While I'm an advocate of microchipping, blanketID is another innovative (and stylish) way to keep your kitty covered. Just pick out one of their cool designs, and register your cat's information online, including pictures and your contact info. One your pet is reported missing, blanketID.com automatically sends a broadcast email to local SPCA, animal hospitals, shelters, other local blanketID members. Conversely, if someone finds your pet, they simply have to visit the blankedID site and type in your cat's unique code to find out how to get in touch with you.

Cat-ula - ModCoth, $14.99

Ahh, yes. The Catula. I have coveted you forever! No matter where you live, you still have to eat breakfast and there's no reason it shouldn't be this cute. Eggs and pancakes will never be the same once your tend to them with your new feline flipper.

If you're renting (and live on the third floor, like I do), lugging heavy cat furniture around can be somewhat of an inconvenience. We all know cats love cardboard anyway, so why not create this elegant (and thrifty) DIY chaise from the Evil Mad Scientist Laboratories? I created my own cardboard box retreat for the cats a few months ago, and they are still enjoying it to this day. For the less crafty among us, Loyal Luxe also creates a fun line of cardboard cat shelters (like a Teepee and a Chalet), which can be folded down flat or recycled once its time to move.

Kitty Cat Handmade Linen Organizer - Hoganfe Handmade Originals, 29.98 (also available in black)

Storage is at a premium in most apartments, so it's always a treat to find solutions that blend into the decor instead of looking awkward and, um, storage-y. This handmade linen bin is not only super-cute, but purrfect for stashing anything from your latest knitting project, to an overflow of cat toys.

In addition to having a chic feline design, this three-in-one piece of cat furniture is a great space saver that you won't be embarrassed to show off. Kitties can sit or lay down on top, hang out on the fabric cat nap hammock underneath, or work those claws on the scratching board, instead of taking it out on your couch!

Quirky Vintage Kitty Cat Bathroom Set

Dead Stock Kitten Toilet Seat Cover and Rug, $20.00

I cringe to label something from the early 90s as "vintage", in the same way it pains me when my roommate tells me that her 7th grade students give her quizzical looks when she mentions Whitney Houston or Sony Walkmen.

However, unlike the timeless sound of Houston's voice, or the once groundbreaking idea of taking music with you on the go - this oddly ingenious Kitten Toilet Seat Cover and Rug Combo might not have altered the cultural landscape forever, but it probably made a bunch of bathrooms a whole lot more fun.

Catify Any Surface With The Allover Cat Stencil

A little while ago I did a post about some covet-worthy kitty wallpaper that I fantasized about hanging in my dream cat office. While that dream is still alive and well, I also recently stumbled across another solution (via @KittyLitMag), purrfect for if you're interested in saving some money, customizing your color scheme, and going the DIY route.

The Cats, Cats and More Cats! Allover Stencil from Cutting Edge Stencils measures in at 24" x 31.5" and promises easy application with acrylic or latex paint, stencil creams, fabric paint or glaze. The site also offers allover stenciling tips and video tutorials to help get you on your way to allover feline bliss. At under 40 bucks, the price is right - and unlike expensive wallpaper - if you hate it (doubtful) or mess up (possible), you can always paint right over it and start again.

5 Ways To Freshen Up Your (Cat's) Space For $25 Or Less

I have partnered with Apartment Guide to serve as an Official Apartment Guide Pet Blogger! As an official blogger, I will be sharing articles filled with tips for living on a budget. This month our topic will focus on ideas for pet-friendly decorating on a dime. Whether you're living, looking or moving, Apartment Guide offers how-to tips for making the most of a space for you and your pet on a budget.

January is my least favorite month of the year, because it's cold and boring and there's not much to look forward to until nature begins to bloom again in the spring. With that in mind, when Apartment Guide asked me to create a "How-To Guide For Living on a Budget," I decided to pick some easy items that would help brighten up a dreary indoor space, while there's still snow on the ground.

I really wanted to find cool, interesting pieces that came in under the $25 price point, and the theme for my collection was ultimately inspired by a treat jar that looks like a tree stump. Kind of an unusual cat product for sure, but I love that it looks more like a cookie jar for humans, which could easily blend into your home without any of the "meow" motifs you're likely to find on feline decor.

1. ORE Pet Woodland Placemat :// $4.99, Wag.com
Charlie gobbles down his food as fast as he can, and it's not unusual to find remnants of his dinner everywhere, his head and the floor, included. This cute mat, which also matches the treat jar (there's a matching bowl, too), wipes up easily, camouflages crumbs, and will go a long way in alerting your guests to the earthy cat lover you really are.

2. Mee-U Organic Catnip Toy :// $8.00, GEORGE
Every kitty deserves a catnip treat, but why stick to boring designs when there's a whole world of cool nip out there to discover? For under $10, you can go to sites like Etsy, and find catnip in every design under the sun, from sushi to severed heads. In keeping with my theme of bringing the outdoors inside, I chose this cute little catnip with a goldfinch illustration on the front and a sweet passage from a vintage children's book on the back (The kitten said, "Mee-u," and rubbed against his foot. One thing is certain. We ought to go home and it looks to me as though the kitten has made up its mind to go wherever we go).

3. ORE Pet Woodland Pet Treat Jar :// $21.99, Wag.com

Do your cats enjoy munching on household plants? If you don't fully appreciate their gratis pruning services, cat grass is a wonderful, safe alternative to keep your kitty satisfied and add a little extra greenery to your home. You can buy seeds to plant yourself like the like ones shown, or pick up a plant up from your local pet store for under 5 bucks a pop.

Finding a stylish bed for $25 or less was a challenge, which is why I was excited to find these great duvet covers from Molly Meow. In addition to being an inexpensive way to give new life to a cat bed you already have, you can also improvise by stuffing it with blankets and clothes from around the house (which is what your cats are probably already sleeping on anyway). The duvet covers come in four cool colors and patterns, including the bright green shade shown, and are a simple way to freshen up tired decor without shelling out a ton of cash.

Wallpaper Your House In Cats

Ladies and gentlemen, get your vision boards out (I don't have one, but maybe it's time to start)! Recently I've been spending a lot of time fantasizing about what my perfect cat office would look like, and I think I've just stumbled across the ultimate accent for my lair.

The Omega Cats wallpaper by Sanderson, was adapted from a 1930s textile by Swedish designer, Victor Lindstrand, and comes in Ivory/Black (shown), Grey/Ivory, and Magenta/Black color combinations. I'd hate to know how much it costs, but can you really put a price on cat lady dreams?

In addition to the mod fabulous wallpaper, Sanderson also has a more subtle cat print fabric (available in Celadon (shown), Sky Blue, and Sisal), purrfect for curtains, soft furnishings and upholstery. I like how it showcases just enough kitty to satisfy any feline interior design quotient, without leaving guests feeling like you're totally insane.

Shelter Kitties Enjoy Run on a Life-Sized Hamster Wheel

Catswall Design, creators of supremely awesome cat enrichment products such as the Curvynest and the Modular Cat Climbing Wall, recently posted a video of one of their most titillating inventions yet - The Cat Wheel! The life-sized hamster wheel for kitties looks like a fun and exciting way to exercise indoor cats, and as shown in the clip, is also a fantastic way to stimulate shelter kitties who get little, if any time outside of their cages.

While the Cat Wheel isn't available outside of Taiwan just yet, the company promises that they're working on securing a local dealer to import their products (including the Modular Cat Climbing Wall), and hope to have them for sale in the US by early 2012! In the meantime, you can get your Catswall Design fix with some cool bowls and scratching boards, that are currently for sale in the Catswall Design Etsy shop.
