Hip home accessories for cat lovers are still considered a bit of a novelty, and as such, finding any within a reasonable price range can be challenging. Sure, I came across plenty of $90 kitty pillows, and equally pricey cat art, but as lovely as they were, they're not very practical if you're trying to save some cash.
Last week's "How-To Guide For Living on a Budget" focused on five inexpensive items to help freshen up your cat's space, and this week I challenged myself to finding some cool, feline inspired home decor, all for less than 20 bones each.
1. Prairie Cat 8 x 10 Print :// $15, The Wheatfield by Katie Daisy
There's a whole world of reasonably priced cat artwork out there, especially on sites like Etsy and Society6. By patronizing these sites, not only are you helping to support independent artists, but you'll also be scoring a unique piece of work that will be the envy of all of your cat loving friends!
2. Twin Tabbies Shaker Set :// $11.99, ModCloth
Some of my favorite cat accessories around my home are the vintage figurines I've collected in my travels throughout the years. When the weather gets warm, it's fun to scour your local newspaper or Craigslist for garage sales and flea markets, or hit up the local Goodwill or thrift shop to see what kind of feline goodies you can find on the cheap. If you can't find what you're looking for, shopping on eBay or Retro Meow are also good options, and I also recommend online boutiques like ModCloth, who often stock new items that still have a bit of a vintage feel to them.
3. Diego the Cat Pillow :// $19, Urban Outfitters
Diego the cat would look right at home in front of a brightly colored accent pillow, and his unusual shape also adds texture and interest to a blah couch that's fallen flat. Looking to give your seating even more of a facelift? Scope out some cute kitty fabrics on sites like Spoonflower, and get to work re-upholstering those chairs!
4. Kitty Key Covers :// $10, Fred Flare
Want to show your kitty love before you even get in the front door? I've had a longtime obsession with these brightly covered kitty key covers by Gama Go. Not only are they super cute, they're also great for people like me who can't tell the difference between their bazillion keys.
5. Stick with Me, Kitten Magnet Set :// $10.99, ModCloth
Another super easy and cheap way to add cute kitties to your every day surroundings is with magnets. Google around to find the set of your dreams, or if you're the crafty type, you can always go the DIY route. One design I really like comes from Megan of Not Martha, who created some awesome magnets of her own using little more than marbles, glue, magnets, and magazine clippings.
