Mad Men and Cats

AMC's Mad Men is one of my favorite shows on television, and my favorite character is the original HBIC, Joan Holloway-Harris.
When she saunters in the room with her pen necklace, you know she means business.

Rumor has it, they are introducing a new character when the show returns in 2010..

Joan's long-lost sister, Kitty Holloway..!

What mystery and intrigue will arise when this buxom beauty blows into town?

Will she be an employee at the newly minted Sterling-Cooper-Draper-Pryce?

Another notch on Don Draper's bedpost?

Peggy's Olson's new roommate?

I guess we will just have to tune in to find out!

Celebrity Gossip: Bridget Marquardt, Goodbye Kitty?

E! Online is reporting that former Girl Next Door and super animal lover Bridget Marquardt is giving up her Hello Kitty collection for her new man!

The pair have only been living together for a week, but boyfriend Nick Carpenter is already laying down the kitty-free law.

"Nick made me give away my Hello Kitty TV, my Hello Kitty microwave and my Hello Kitty toaster," she groaned. "I got to keep the Hello Kitty cordless phone."

Bridget, drop the tool and not the tabby! Next he will be trying to get rid of Wednesday and Gizmo!

"Oh, hell no!"

Megan Fox, Catwoman?

Earlier this week, The Sun reported that Megan Fox had signed on to play Catwoman in the next Batman film. The rumor has since been debunked by People, but as a Catwoman fan, it made me think about who I would like to see play Selina Kyle if Catwoman ever makes her way back to the silver screen.

Catwoman (the movie) was one of the worst films I have seen in my life. No disrespect to Halle Berry, but they changed the entire back story, feline abilities, and name of the character so much, they should have just called it something else ("Random Cat Lady," perhaps?)

Catwoman IS Selina Kyle, not "Patience Phillips." Would they ever make a Batman movie without Bruce Wayne? A Spider-Man with no Peter Parker? I think not.

Sorry, Halle :(

Someone should have made a Catwoman movie 10 years ago with Michelle Pfeiffer. Her portrayal of Selina Kyle in Tim Burton's 1992 epic Batman Returns is the gold standard. She flipped, skipped, and sauntered across Gotham City kicking ass and breaking hearts. She was dark, witty, conflicted, and immensely quotable.
"I am Catwoman, hear me roar!"

So who should play the next Catwoman? Megan? Angelina? Jocelyn Wildenstein?

My vote is for ScarJo! What do you think?

Spotlight On: Kitty Baby Love

Kitty Baby Love is Sara and Ben, two stay-at-home parents devoted to handcrafting beautiful, natural kitty themed products with love.

My personal favorites are their gorgeous kitty egg crayons that come in tons of colors like burgundy and lavender. Yum! They are made of nontoxic wax and each crayon is hand carved with a precious lil' kitty face!

I also love their Boo-Boo kitty stress relief dolls. These tiny cats with hand embroidered faces are filled with rice so they are nice and squeezy, or you can put them in the microwave for warmth! Ahh..
"Calgon, Calgon take me away.."

They also craft and sell items ranging from beeswax candles and coloring books, to this unique kitty bowling set.
Like what you see? Go visit them on etsy, or at their recently launched website, kittybabylove.com.

Catra - Jealous Beauty

Image via bustatoons

If you were a child of the 80s like myself, you were probably glued to the screen every afternoon when He-Man and She-Ra: Princess of Power came on. While She-Ra was a princess and "the most powerful woman in the Universe," villainous Catra was dubbed "Jealous Beauty."

Jealous? Really?
Catra TURNS INTO A PURPLE PANTHER when she puts on her magical mask. Those are some serious Lisa Frank-like shenanigans right there. And she has the ability to control cats using the power of her mind! She-Ra has a cool flying horse and a castle, but come on!

"The transformation is complete!"

And CLAWDEEN! Clawdeen is Catra's talking lion. She rocks a hot pink curly mane, and is generally amazing. She is also Catra's main ride.

I guess if I had luxurious black hair, feline attributes, and a hot pink leotard, She-Ra would hate me too. "Laugh while you can, cat lady!"

Hot Kitty Mess - Kitty Purry

You're probably already familiar with glamour-puss pop sensation Katy Perry, but what about her feline daughter, the unsinkable Miss Kitty Purry? Little KP rocks her fuzzy belly, kitty bloomers, and little black ballet flats hard, just like her fashion forward mother.

Kitty is a staple on Katy's twitter account:

While Katy herself is always representing for the kitty's, as seen here in Hello Kitty for MAC.

Don't these precious itty bitties look like porcelain figurines? I'd be the happiest girl on earth if my closet looked like this. Although, only having 3 articles of clothing could prove to be problematic.

Bedtime Story: "Big Little Kitty"

"Big Little Kitty" is the charming tale of a kitten named Muffin who is gifted to little Karen Kay on Christmas morning. Muffin does all of the things normal kittens do, such as tangle a string, admire herself in the mirror, play with mice, pretend to cry when Karen Kay goes out, etc.

One day, Muffin decides she is bored being a house kitten. Living in the lap of luxury isn't exciting enough for her, so she decides to run away because it's "time to see the world." Apparently, she is a highly aspirational kitten who has read Karen Kay's mother's copy of "The Feminine Mistake."

Wordly as she is, Muffin's first stop is the meadow to speak with some friendly cows who try to convince her to stay with them.

Unimpressed, she continues on her journey and meets a shady Choo Choo train who lures her to the city with a promise that "the city has lots more things to see than a field and a fence and a chestnut tree."

Oooook, then. So, she hops on the train and away she goes to see wonderful things like "smoke and sunshine" and "roofs and doors" because they only have those things in the city, you know.

Meanwhile, back at the homestead Karen Kay keeps praying in her cute pink nightgown that Muffin will return someday. And wouldn't you know, since this is a 25 cent children's story, she does! And she doesn't come alone, she brings two other ragamuffin kittens with her! And instead of being cold, hungry, and dirty they all look super cute and have coordinating ribbons tied around their necks. Muffin looks happy, but the other two looked kinda bewildered, like, "we left the city for this?"

Anyway, the point is: Muffin finally comes to her senses and returns to the good life. In the land of tell-tale books, this includes a mouse on wheels, a customized food dish, a cozy cat bed, and a small pink ball of yarn. It does not include living in the city, riding public transportation, and rats.

The End.
